Our role

Work Package Leader — WP4

We lead WP4 and build NEUROCLIMA's AI-boosted nervous system, which monitors social media and policy for climate trends, concerns and social tipping points. We also run the EU climate-adaptation policy observatory and the semantic enrichment and analytics behind the project's climate dialogues.

Impact and outcomes

  • Targeting outreach to at least 620 citizens through the monitoring infrastructure and adaptation framework
  • Targeting use of the monitoring infrastructure by at least 12 policymaking and non-profit organisations
  • Targeting at least 2 open big-data datasets and 2 policy briefs on climate governance across the EU
  • Targeting at least 30% of users from vulnerable or marginal social groups

The challenge

Many citizens see climate policies as burdensome, unclear or disconnected from their needs, which slows the adoption of the EU's adaptation goals. Policymakers lack effective ways to include citizens in shaping these measures. They also struggle to spot the social tipping and leverage points where small actions can drive lasting change.

Our approach

NEUROCLIMA creates an explainable, AI-enhanced nervous system that monitors citizens' concerns and climate discourse and feeds them to policymakers, while explaining new measures back to citizens. Educational toolkits for participatory design, creative writing and the performing arts support this dialogue in pilots across Europe. Our monitoring infrastructure, policy observatory and semantic analytics form its technical core.
